ADOBE – REMIX
“The power of creation is its subjection. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and to its creator, it is the source of life.” -Unknown
I consider this part of the process to be very important, as I believe it to be the creative guiding light in the void of creative obscurity. Seeking the “Golden Frame” is no easy task, however by maintaining our true intention through all the challenges, we managed to successfully find it midway through the process. The “Golden Frame” is the sole significant piece that the project depends on as far as mental clarity and visual influence. - ASH THORP
It helps answer the many questions and choices moving forward. The image below, although seemingly rough, was the one image that set the pace for things to move forward visually and creatively. Each phase of The Incept has a chapter that is based on the visual narrative of a single idea. Here are the chapters that were created to keep us focused while building the visuals. - ASH THORP
Due to the dynamic way we created The Incept, the process took many shapes and forms before it finally revealed its final path to us. We were flooded with ideas of what it was to feel like and be, but we were constantly in creative pursuit of the key images that told us, “Here it is!”. As with any project, it’s a long discovery process to get to the final result, and the images below depict how many different forms the project took over the course of its creation.
After many phone calls, emails, discussions and meetings, Michael and I roughly shared references of things we liked and ideas that motivated the key theme points we were ultimately after. Once these key elements were agreed upon, I like to very roughly sketch out the small thumbnail size illustrations of where things are going, such as the general tone and composition. - ASH THORP
These rough illustrations become a guidebook to help us navigate through the project. As the animatic is sewn together with temp score music, it provides feedback to us as to what is working and what is not. It’s incredibly challenging to see the diamond in the rough at this point, but that is the key to finalizing and accomplishing the vision. - ASH THORP
By utilizing this process of being able to set the agenda in parallel with the visuals, it ensured the music was deeply woven into the fabric of the project from the start. Our goal was to create a timeless, melodic score that would perfectly compliment the sense of mystery and wonder that was being created visually. - ASH THORP
